Other Prospects

As well as Trafford's flagship Weednanna and Telephone Dam projects, there are numerous other exploration targets within the Wilcherry Hill Project area targeting a variety of commodities including Gold/Copper/Silver/Lead/Zinc/Uranium. These areas are currently the subject of a thorough regional analysis which will result in each prospect being prioritised ready for extensive exploration in the new year.

Death Adder

The Death Adder prospect is characterized by a prominent 8km long gravity anomaly with a width reaching 2.5km. There is a suite of favourable evidence which accompanies the high gravity signature which gives Trafford reason to believe that Death Adder may represent a significant IOCG target:

  • Copper in calcrete anomalism overlies the southern half of the gravity anomaly,

  • Hematite outcrop with assay values reaching 54% Fe,

  • An associated magnetic anomaly which runs parallel along the western edge.

  • The presence of associated magnetic anomalies is a feature which is observed at major South Australia IOCG deposits such as Prominent Hill and Olympic Dam.

Historical drilling over the Death Adder gravity anomaly is scarce and shallow and none of the holes drilled have reached the depths Trafford believe to be necessary to have adequately drill tested this massive body.

    Black Hill

The Black Hill area is the western most portion of EL4421. It covers approximately 50km2 and is characterised by an underlying granite of Hiltaba age which outcrops further to the south and a network of structurally dislocated magnetic and gravity anomalies. Numerous geochemical anomalies combined with the fact that the adjoining tenement to the west has recently became a focus as a potential new epithermal silver/gold/lead province classifies Black Hill as one of Trafford's most exciting precious metal exploration targets.

    Mawson

The Mawson IOCGU Prospect was initially identified by widespread calcrete sampling in the1990s. This sampling, in addition to follow up in-fill sampling, further outlined a coincident Gold and Copper in calcrete anomaly that rests over the Mawson Prospect. Drilling into the calcrete anomaly during the 1990s intersected 29 metres @ 0.9% Cu (99WDRC061). Much like the Death Adder prospect, Mawson is geophysically characterised by offset gravity and magnetic signatures. When combined with the Copper mineralisation intersected down hole and overlying surficial Gold and Copper geochemistry, it is clear that Mawson also has numerous features suggesting a potential IOCGU system.

    Pier

The Pier trend is an 8km long, intermittently outcropping manganese rich structure at which samples of up to 31% Mn have been collected. Furthermore, historic drilling at Pier has intersected Lead/Zinc anomalism on structures which appear to be along strike from the Telephone Dam Lead/Zinc deposit. As Trafford subsidiary IronClad Mining begin production of DSO crystalline magnetite in 2012 with the anticipation of a gravity circuit which will be able to process the manganese soon to follow, the discovery of a manganese deposit in the vicinity will surely become an invaluable addition to Trafford's portfolio.

    Golden Gate

Golden Gate is located 10km north of Weednanna on tenement EL 4162. Initially identified by a Gold in calcrete geochemistry anomaly, similar to that which defines Weednanna, this multi commodity target has historical drill intersections of Gold, Copper, Lead, Silver and Uranium. The most significant intersected in historical drilling was This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. The geophysical target has a North-South strike of approximately 2 km and the prospect appears to be located on a regional scale fold hinge. The intensity of the magnetic signature is similar to that of Weednanna and Weednanna North. It is the combination of coincidental mineralisation indicators as well as the structural features demonstrated by the geophysics that defines Golden Gate as a high priority exploration target for Trafford Resources.
